<br />C. Ohio says it expects to receive a FEMA grant for a special project to <br />develop a "Generic Inspection Manual". <br /> <br />D. Washington has a half year remaining on a two-year contract with FEMA <br />for a total of $8500. <br /> <br />3. How many full-time equivalent (FTE) people, including engineers and non- <br />engineers, have dam saf'ety program responsibilities in your state? <br />(Note: Part-or full-time technicians, secretaries, and administrators <br />are included). <br /> <br />o Total number of FTE people in all fifty states is 324 <br />o Number of states having at least one FTE is 45 <br />o Average FTE for 45 states having at least one FTE is 6.4 <br />o Average FTE for fifty states is 6.5 <br /> <br />Two states, <br />personnel. <br />reports 0.5 <br /> <br />Alabama and Hawaii, report not having any dam safety <br />Both Delaware and Florida have 0.1 FTE each and Nevada <br />FTE. <br /> <br />Comments: <br /> <br />A. Connecticut's figure consists of three engineers, three inspectors, <br />one program coordinator, and one clerical person. <br /> <br />B. Florida reports that there are no funds appropriated for dam safety, <br />therefore, this is an extra duty. <br /> <br />C. Hawaii has no dam safety program and the State Legislature has not <br />authorized a dam safety inspection program as of this date. <br /> <br />D. Iowa's dam safety program is part of an overall floodplain management <br />program and not a separable item insofar as TO and budgeting. <br /> <br />E. Kansas' figure includes positions involved in only the review and <br />approval of plans for construction of new dams and inspections during <br />and immediately after construction. Kansas notes that it has no one <br />working full time in an ongoing dam safety program. <br /> <br />F. Louisiana does not have a separate staff for dam .safety. Their <br />District Engineers will provide assistance to the main office staff <br />personnel on the program. <br /> <br />G. Maine's personnel includes two program administrators and half a <br />secretary's time. <br /> <br />H. Michigan's program FTE has increased this year from only 1.8 FTE in FY <br />84-85. <br /> <br />I. Minnesota's figure includes two full-time engineers. <br /> <br />J. Mississippi <br />technician, <br />duties. <br /> <br />notes that this number is for one eng ineer, one <br />and one secretary and that dam safety is not their only <br /> <br />.27- <br />
