Minnesota budgeted $100,000 for dam safety staff, but the Legislature
provided about $1.5 million for dam repairs in 1985.

L. This amount includes $245,000 for
salaries and benefits, $40,000 for operating costs and $400,000 for
construction and engineering rehabilitation studies. The FY 87 budget
of $715,000 has an additional $14,000 for the New Dam Safety Act,
assuming that $30,000 is collected in permitting fees, etc.

O. Nevada indicates that their dam safety program funding is unknown
because it is not broken out as a separate line item.

l
~
j

P. New Jersey anticipates that additional staff will be hired in the
upcoming Fiscal Year.

Q. North Dakota notes that this figure is the same as the previous year.

R. (Note: Ef'f'ective July 1, 1985 - Use Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 1985 if'
calendar year budget).

o Only Alabama reported any
(New Mexico, Ohio and
assistance from FEMA.

Federal assistance, but three other states
Washington) reported special technical

Comments:

A.
