<br />S. No right-of-way maps, descriptions, surveys or other elements of <br />work regarding right-of-way or easements will be completed by MEC <br />as a part of Basic Services. All maps. description. and agreements <br />regarding right-of-way and easement, temporary and permanent, are <br />to be prerared by ENTITIES. <br /> <br />4. CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES <br /> <br />ENTITIES may request MEC to provide construction phase services, <br />coordinated t.hrough ENTITIES. These services are not a part of this <br />Agreelnent and are considered an Additional Service. The scope and cost <br />of construction phase 5erv1ces will be negotiated prior to <br />advertisement for bid and made a part of this Agreement by amendment. <br /> <br />5. SCOPE OF SPECIAL SERVICES <br /> <br />MEC shall arrange for special sprvices as needed which will consist of <br />the following items: <br /> <br />A. Soils Investigations. Sc'ls investigations and recommendations for <br />prel iminary and final design for both the east and west levee sec- <br />tions will be provided by Chen and Associates, Inc. under subcon- <br />tract to MEC. This investigation will include necessary office and <br />field exploratory work to address the following concerns: <br />1. A review of information available for this site and the general <br />project area will be made. Geotechnical Information developed <br />for the Phase I area will be utilized as much as possible. <br />2. Perform a field reconnaissance of the project area. The soils. <br />engineer will visit the site to review the existing conditions <br />of the levee system and identify exploratory bor1ng locatiuns. <br />3. Perform a field exp10racion program to include drilling of six <br />exploratory borings along sections of the Phase II levee system <br />to be designed as a part of this Agreement. The final deDth of <br />the borings wil.l be determined in the field as dr~lling <br />progresses and as the suosoil profile becomes evident but are <br />anticipated to extend to 25- :0 30-feet. ihe borings will be <br />made to o~tain information on .he subsurface profile, to obtain <br />sampies for laboratory testing, and to estimate the groundwater <br />1 evel . <br />An effort will be made to drill the borings from the crest of <br />the levee system. However, some borings may be drilled at the <br />base 'Jf the levee because of access limitations, stability <br />problems or other reasons. Hollow stem augers will be used to <br />obtain the borings. Legal and physical access to the project <br />area will be provided by ENTITIES. AS well, ENTITIES will <br />identify in the field, all underground utilities so as to avoid <br />
