<br />~ <br /> <br />AGREEMtNT REGARDING <br />THE DESIGN OF LEVE" IMPROVEMENTS ALONG THE <br />RIO GRANDE A~ ALAMOSA, C8LORADO <br />:'IlASE I I <br /> <br />7i-iIS ;"GREEMENT t made this day of . 1986, by and <br />between the CITY OF ALAMOSA, COLORADO and ALAMOSA COUNTY, COLORADO, <br />(hereinafter called "ENTITIES"); Jnd l.iULLER ENGINEERING COflPANY. INC. a <br />professional engineering firm (hereinafter called "MEClt). <br />WITNESSETH THAT: <br />WHEREAS, ENTITIES wish to upgrade the levee system along the Ri" Grande <br />within the City and County; and <br />WHEREAS, ENTITIES have received commitments for $400,000 of Federal <br />Community Development Block Grant monies to unde,take the construction of a <br />second phase of levee improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, ENTITIES have previously retained I:C to prepare final 1esigns <br />for the Phase J improvements and the Golf Course Levee improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, ENTITIES desire to engage MEC to r'nder certain technical and <br />professional advice and to prepare final designs of the Phase II <br />improvements; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consi derat 1 on of the mutual promi ses contai ned <br />herein, the parties hereto agree as follows: <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />1. EMPLOYMENT OF ENGINEER <br /> <br />ENTITIES hereby agree to engage MEC and MEC hereby agrees to perform <br />the services hereinafter set forth. <br /> <br />2. AREA <br /> <br />The speCific area of the existing levee system which is included in <br />this scope of services is the west levee, upstream of the U.S, 160 <br />bridge, extend~ng approximately 1,800 feet to the north property line <br />of Cole Park. <br /> <br />The total Phase II project length is 1800 feet for preliminary and <br />final design. Construction documents >lill he pi cpared for the 1800 <br />foot west 1 evee only, under thi s agree~~nt. The east 1 evee will be <br />considered in the hydraulic analysis and geotechnical analysis, but no <br />surveys, preliminary or final design will be completed on the east <br />levee. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />The proposed improvements for the levee "lill be as proposed in the <br />Reconnaissance Report, Rio Grande Levee Svstem at Alamosa, dated <br />October 31, 1985, for the west levee, and as to be determined during <br />this final design. <br />
