Identification an~Regulation: The evaluation of land-use <br />codes and design and construction standards. It also in- <br />volves floodplain mapping and the delimiting of inundation ' <br />zones. <br /> <br />B. Minimizing Flood Recurrence: any flood-lessening measure <br />as opposed to actions that attempt to accommodate flooding. <br />Examples include: dam safety and inspection programs; <br />streambank and channel clearing; slope reductions; and <br />debris removal. <br /> <br />C. Hazard Warning and Education: includes warning and evacu- <br />at~on plans and activities such as practice alerts, public <br />meetings and lenders' seminars. <br /> <br />D. Structura'l/Nonstructural Measures: any approach that <br />addresses the inevitability of flooding and offers a <br />degree of physical protection. This involves elevation, <br />floodproofing and/or conversion of structures, acqui- <br />sition and relocation. <br /> <br />7 <br />
