Identification and Regulation

1. Work Eleroont: Investigate and report on the need for a flood
insurance restudy of the Fall River. The in-
vestigation should include a hydrologic and hy-
draulic analysis of the area of the Fall River
\'.est from the confluence of Big Thanpson and
Fall River, through Estes Park, to the National
Park Boundary. This study should include Larimer
County unincorporated areas and the TcMn of
Estes Park.

Background:

The flow of the Fall River caused cross-sections
of the stream to change dramatically. In
addition silting in of the channel has ocarrretl
in man:?places. A restudy of the Fall River
v.Duld accurately display the 100-year floodplain.
An updated map would aid local officials in
future planning along the Fall River.

of Estes Park floodplain management resolutions
and ordinances.

Develop minimum design and construction standards
for the replacanent of privately owned bridges.

Background: The same action was initiated by Larimer County
after the Big Thanpson flood disaster of 1976.

a result, the approach is attractive to the
private businesses and home owners involved.
