A dam failure is not a normal hydrologic event. When one does
occur, however, mitigation opportunities are presented that
should apply to the common flood frequency classifications.
The mitigation measures recommended for this event_could serve
to dramatically lessen or possibly eliminate the more customary
flood losses and damages.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be responsible for
monitoring the progress of implementation of the recommendations
and for preparing the 90 day progress report.
