OR~f1

The existing drainage system in Basin W-5 is adequate for flood
flows. There are some problems with ice buildup in the 18 inch RCP
along the upper set of unit 1. This is due to a combination of
shallow cover, a flat section of pipe, and introduction of small
ground water flows. The most important consideration in this basin
is to require detention for future developments since the 100-year
flood could be nearly doubled, and render the existing storm drain
inadequate. It might be possible to incorporate a regional
detention facility at the downstream end of the storm drain. This
would be feasible if the area adjacent to the Blue River were
lowered during development of the river corridor and adjacent land.

The drainage system for Basin W-6 is adequate for existing
conditions and could convey future developed flows, if the inlet
to the 42 inch RCP is properly accounted for in future development.
However, considering that the 100-year discharge would increase
from 30 cfs to 80 cfs and that the 2-year discharge would increase
from 3 cfs to 25 cfs under full development, detention should be
provided for to prevent introducing much larger concentrated flows
from causing erosion.

The assessment of Basin W-7 is similar to W-6. The current
drainage system is adequate for both existing and future developed
flows, but due to the possible magnitude of increase for future
flows and water quality concerns, detention should be required of
all future development in the basin.

47
