STORM can be used for two important planning components of <br />a storm water study: (1) Prediction of wet-weather pollutographs for use in <br />a receiving water assessment model. Computations are based on land use so <br />that the impact of change in land use can be evaluated. (2) Preliminary <br />sizing of storage and treatment facilities for desired control of storm <br />water runoff. Frequency information on the quantity and quality of pollutant <br />washoff, land surface erosion, and storage overflows is provided. <br />e. P..oo..........CIPIC..TIClll.There is no dimension limitation on the length of the <br />precipitation record that can be used in the program. The program is <br />dimensioned for 20 treatment rates with 20 storages each, however, computer <br />run time will limit the number of combinations of storage capacity and <br />treatment rate that can be used in an analysis of a given precipitation <br />record. A maximum of 20 land uses can be accommodated. Six water quality <br />parameters are predicted: suspended and settleable solids; BOD; N; P04 <br />and coliform. <br />c. "liT HODS The quantity of runoff can be computed by the coefficient method <br />or the SCS Curve Number Technique. Snowmelt is computed by the Degree Day <br />J~ethod . Unit hydrographs can be used. Quantity and quality of dry weather <br />flow can be computed. Runoff quality is dependent on runoff rate, pollutant <br />accumulation rates and frequency of street sweeping. Land surface erosion <br />is computed by the Universal Soil Loss Equation. <br />D. IEOU."...HT DaTAILI The program requires a FORTRAN IV compiler, about 40,000 <br />words of core and three tape/disk units for sequential output files. <br />E. .N...... OUTPUT The program uses card and/or tape input and printer output. <br />Three output files are generated on separate tape/disk units and are printed <br />at the end of the job. Hourly precipitation and daily temperature data <br />are normally available on tape from the National Weather Service at <br />Ashville, North Carolina. <br />,. ..OOITIClN..LU".......
