tions for Running Creek are,

Flooded Areas

1. Table-5,"FloodElevations".

In Colorado, the 100-year flood has been selected to delineate and
regulstcfloodpl"ins. Therefore, the flooded areas maps show the lOO-year
floodplain boundary for Running Creek and the Eli~abeth major drainageways.
The mapping has a 2-foot contour interval and a scale of I-inch equal to
200fe"t. If needed, the floodplains produced by other frequency floods
could be readily delineated on these map..using the informa~ion in Tables
5 and 8. The flooded areas for Running Creek are presented on Pla~es I
through 4 "nd for the Elizabeth major drainageways on Plates 9 through 11.

2. Flooded ^rea Plates 1 through 4.
3. Flood Profiles On Pl"tes 5 through 7.
4. Flooded Area Plates 9 through 11.
3. Flood Profiles On Plates 12 through 14.
4. TypicalCrossSectionaonPlatea1Sthroughl6.

The 100-year floodplain, aa delineated on the flooded areaa maps, meecs
the requirements of House Bill 1041. Upon official approval of this report
by the Colorado Water Conservation Bosrd, the area outlined on the maps will
be deaignated os floodplain area and the loeal official. may regulate it
accordingly.

The flood profiles may be used in arc.. where controversy arises over
the 100-year flood boundary shown on the flooded area plates. Since the flood
profiles give the elevation and dis t8nce or sta~ioning from a known point,
the high water elevations can be conveyed to the ground. Two control ~rkers
iden~ified 8a CS3 and HS3, are located at Elizabeth and can be used for this
purpose. The markers consist of 3-inch di<>mcter brass caps set in concrete
which arc strnnpcd wich appropriate identification.
