<br />WHEREAS, floodplain designation request letters were received from Cheny Hills Village and <br />. the Cities of Englewood and Sheridan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Arapahoe County and the Cities of Glendale and Greenwood Village have <br />verbally indicated their consent to the CWCB designation action but did not send letters of request as <br />of the date of this resolution; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Columbine Valley was advised by the Urban Drainage and Flood <br />Control District to wait for floodplain designation until such time that existing LOMR submittals were <br />approved by FEMA for their community; therefore Columbine Valley is not requesting floodplain <br />designation at this time; and <br /> <br />C.R.S. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-l06(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative bodies oflocal jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCB TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain information, as listed in Table 2, in said new Flood <br />Insurance Study and Hydrology Addendum, meets all of the requirements listed under the Board's <br />"Rules and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and of Storm or Floodwater <br />Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approximate riverine floodplain information, as listed in Table 3, in said new <br />Flood Insurance Study and Hydrology Addendum meets all of the requirements listed under the <br />Board's "Rules and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and of Storm or <br />Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, 100-year peak discharges within Arapahoe County for the streams listed in Table <br />3 (as listed in said new hydrology addendum dated January 2000) were developed by the consulting <br />firm of Montgomery Watson utilizing the latest available CWCB regional regression equations entitled <br />"Guidelines for Determining 100-year Flood Flows for Approximate Floodplain in Colorado"; and <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />5 <br />
