The area north of 60th Avenue will
be directed to the detention pond near Sheridan Blvd. (Reach
2). The storm runoff from the area will follow present runoff
patterns along the north side of the railroad tracks.
Reach 2 -- 60th Avenue at Sheridan Blvd. to Clear Creek: Install
60 LF of 54" RCP culvert under 60th Avenue at Eaton Street.
Construct 425 LF of grassed lined open channel with
check drops from 60th Avenue south to a proposed 9.6 acre-foot
detention pond at the northwest intersection of the Manhart
Ditch and Sheridan Blvd. frontage road. Utilize existing storm
sewer system along Sheridan Blvd. for the pond outfall. (10
year flood protection is obtained).
3. Construction Sequence
For the Hidden Lake Basin, the improvements downstream of Hidden
Lake are dependent, to a degree, upon the improvements to the dam and
spillway, since the lowering of the spillway crest will allow the
storm runoff to be released from the reservoir more frequently than
the current operations. The present development plans for the reach
below Hidden Lake, plus the severity of the flow splitting problem at
64th and 66th Avenues, however, mean that immediate benefits can be
accrued in this reach. Therefore, the reach from Hidden Lake to
Clear Creek is recommended for construction first.
Without improvements to Hidden Lake, however, the drainage
facilities from Hidden Lake to approximately 64th Avenue along Lowell
Boulevard are not adequate for the 100 year storm flows, but are
