Experience with Floodplain Management Projects. Montgomery
Watson has prepared floodplain managcment resourccs for FElVu\ and
local agencies. This includcs floodplain maps, flood alert plans and
floodway studies for land use control. We have also prepared river
corridot studies which incotpotate floodplain management objectives
with land use, agriculture, recreation and other objcctives. This has given
us an impottant undetstanding of the complcx interrelationships
between flooding and economic activity in the floodplain,
. Coordination with Flood-Related Agencies. Montgomery Watson
has performed projects fot, and coordinatcd projects with, a broad range
of agencies which may be involved with the 1999 Flood Documentation
Report. As a result, we arc familiar with the policies, proccdures and
staffs of thc USGS, Corps of Engineers, National Weather Service,
FEMA, National Resources Conservation Service, U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation, and CDOT, as well as CWCB.
. Full Services in a Local Office. The Denver office of Montgomery
Watson has all thc necessary resources required to perform thc study
tasks. In addition to conducting research and enginccring investigations,
this includes mapping and report production capabilities,
. Related Technical Disciplines. Montgomery Watson maintains a
cotporate staff with a broad range of technical expertise beyond standard
hydrology and hydraulics which are related to floodplain impacts. This
includes environmental engineers, planners, agricultural enginecrs,
hydrogeologists, and GIS experts. These individuals will be available to
the local project team as consultants and reviewers. if necessary. We arc
proud of our ability to mobilize the extcnsive expertise of a global
firm for a local project when thc need arises.

Section 4 - Relevant Project Experience
The following projects demonstrate our ability to succcssfully complete the 1999 Flood
Documentation Report for C\'VCB,

,I, ir

H "Ill.

~Ii!

Montgomcry Watson is currently under contract to Colorado Springs
Utilities (CSU) to providc assistance in documenting mcteorologic and
hydrologic aspects of the late April to early May flood evcnt in Colorado
Springs and El Paso County, To date this has involvcd:

.

collection, review and analysis of precipitation and streamflow
tecords in the Arkansas River, Fountain Crcek and Monument
Creek watersheds;
discussion of circumstances surrounding the event with staff
of USGS, NWS, and the Colorado Climate Center;

Montgomery Watson is
documenting flooding conditions
thato(wrredinColoradoSpnngs
in April-Moy 1999

.

.2....,..1 Colorado Waler Conservntion Board
r---

2
