<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mancos and San Juan Rivers and waters tributary thereto in the State <br />of Colorado, located on said reservation; including surface, ground, <br />and underground waters which were unappropriated on March 2, 1868, <br />and which are or will become reasonably necessary for the present <br />and future needs of the Indians in fulfillment of the purposes for <br />which the reservation was created. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />The members of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe live on the <br />Southern Ute Reservation which is located in the southwest corner of <br />the State of Colorado. The present reservation was part of a larger <br />reservation which was withdrawn from the public domain and reserved <br />for the use of said Indian Tribe by the Ute Reservation Treaty of <br />March 2, 1868. vfuen said lands were reserved for Indian use, waters <br />in and on said lands were withdrawn from private appropriation as <br />against the United States and reserved for use of the Indian Tribe. <br />The United States, on behalf of the Southern Ute Tribe, claims rights <br />in and to the use of the waters of the La Plata, Animas, Florida, <br />Los Pinos (Pine), Piedra, San Juan and Navajo Rivers and waters tribu- <br />tary thereto in the State of Colorado, located on said reservation; <br />including surface, ground, and underground waters which were unappro- <br />priated on March 2, 1868, and which are or will become reasonably <br />necessary for the present and future needs of the Indians in fulfill- <br />ment of the purposes for which the reservation was created. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Mesa Verde National Park is owned by the United States and <br />is located within the watershed of the San Juan River and its tribu- <br />taries in the State of Colorado. The lands comprising this National <br />Park were reserved for National Park purposes on June 29, 1906, <br />34 Stat. 616, 617; June 30, 1913; 38 Stat. 83; February 26, 1931, <br />46 Stat. 1422, and December 23, 1963, 77 Stat. 473. ,ihen these lands <br />were reserved, the unappropriated waters in and on said lands were <br />withdrawn from private appropriation as against the United States <br />and were reserved for use by the United States to the extent neces- <br />sary for the requirements and purposes of said reservation. <br /> <br />V. <br /> <br />The Yucca House National Monument is owned by the United <br />States and located within the watershed of the San Juan River and <br />its tributaries in the State of Colorado.
