Refer to Attachment D for a list of <br />suggested participants if your contact needs assistance <br />in deciding who should attend, <br /> <br />Number 4 - Describe the purpose of the meeting to the <br />local official and summarize the agenda (use the agenda <br />given in the sample letter to local officials in <br />Attachment E). Ask the contact about the following <br />issues and record responses on page 16 of the CRF or on <br />a separate sheet. Mention that a letter confirming the <br />meeting will be sent in the near future. Establish your <br />contact's familiarity with the NFIP, Find out the <br />degree of development pressure now being experienced and <br />anticipated in the future. Determine the contact's <br />perception of the availability of non-floodplain <br />development sites; the severity of the community's flood <br />problem; and the nature and extent of past flooding, Go <br />over any issues identified during the community's <br />selection for the CAPE or in your preparations up to <br />this stage of the CAPE. Determine whether your contact <br />is aware of any ongoing or proposed Federal or <br />State-supported floodplain construction. Identify any <br />floodplain management initiatives beyond regulation, <br />e.g., acquisition programs, flood warning and , <br />preparedness plans, etc. Ask local officials to . <br />identify any issues that they want you to be prepared to <br />address. Lastly, find out whether our file copy of the <br />community's ordinance is the most up-to-date, and <br />compare it with the date given at Part 2, #21 of the <br />CRF. If it is not, ask that a current one be sent to <br />you as so?n as possible. <br /> <br />Number 5 - Ask the local contact to have the following <br />items available during the meeting: (l) the current <br />NFIP maps and/or study, (2) any other maps/studies , <br />currently in use, (3) copies of the latest ordinances <br />(enough for all participants), (4) any procedures, other <br />than current regulations, that are being used to assist <br />in development reviews; and (5) any forms, checklists or <br />other documents used to record permit activities. . <br /> <br />Number 6 - Explain that you will be touring the <br />community's floodplain before the meeting and ask you, <br />contact to suggest sites that you should visit to see <br />problem areas or typical examples of new construction, <br />subdivisions, channel improvements, areas where map <br />accuracy is in question, etc. (see the list at Part 4b <br />of the CRF for other examples that you can use to elicit <br />guidance from the local contact). <br /> <br />Number 7 - Inform your contact that visits will be held <br />with local lenders and insurance agents while in town <br />for the meeting with local officials.
