fLfft~~~,

-

DIVISION
OF
DISASTER
EMERGENCY
SERVICES

Quarterly Information Bulletin
Ca':!1p George West, Golden, CO 80401

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

This has been a year of progress -- we have started to analyze our
activities systematically through the process of hazard and capability
analysis and multi-year development planning 1 we are successfully managing
recovery from the flooding disaster on the Western Slope 1 we have expanded
upon and improved our training and exercise program. Progress is accelerating
in all of our essential emergency management component functions. You have a
right to be proud of your role in achieving this progress.

Next year will pose a range of new challenges 1 but none so important as
continuing the momentum of our improving Integrated Emergency Management
efforts. Continuing progress may not be best reflected in some of our more
unique and eye catching endeavors, but rather through those long term stand-
bys -- local emergency planning, follow up exercising and continuing
readjustment and refinement.

Look to the new year to find ways to be more. responsive to our citizenry, to
better deal with recovery issues, to provide our growing population with
incentives to avoid settlement in hazardous areas and above all to improve our
preparedness and readiness posture.

.

.
