The Soil Conservation Service (SCS) has made a field in-
spection of the sites in San Miguel County and reports that a project is feasible
there under its program. The SCS and the Colorado Water Conservation Board plan
to make a field inspection in the other four counties during the week of Septeni>er
17 - 21.

,

September 14, 1984, FEMA amended the Disaster Declaration to include
Dolores, Hinsdale, Montrose and Saguache Counties for public assistance. The
DFO is preparing for applicant briefings and the preparation of Damage Survey
Reports in those counties.

As of the date of this report, there has been a total of twelve small
project grants (under $25,000) approved. Wben a SPG is approved, the full 75%
Federal share is advanced to the applicant. These projects vary from 0% to 100%
work co~letion. The State's 10% obligation for these twelve applications is
$10,272.00, and the projects cannot be closed until this am::>unt is paid. It is
recommended that the feasibility of temporarily funding these projects from some
other State funds be investigated, pending the Special Appropriation the General
Asseni:>ly will be considering in January. This would expedite the closure of these
twelve projects.
