The area south of Grand Avenue and west of the junior high <br />school also drains to the west but has no outlet. Also, the roadside ditch east of S.H. 184 <br />drains properties along Sunset. The ditch crosses S.H. 184 north of Sunset <br />and runoff flows ocross the undeveloped area west of S.H. 184 to Ch icken <br />Creek. <br /> <br />South Mancos <br /> <br />The south area drainage system is shown on Plate 18 and includes the area <br />south of the river and the by.pass, north of Montezuma Street and east of <br />Walnut Street. This area drains in a northerly and westerly direction to the <br />river and the irriqation ditch on the west side of the area. <br /> <br />Central Mancos <br />The central area includes the area between the Mancos River and U.S. 160, as <br />shown on Plates 17 and 18. TIlls area includes the original parts of Mancos <br />Including the Town area. Curb dnd gutter exist on Grand Avenue (U.S. 1608y- <br />Pass) and Main Street, betweenll.S. 160 and the river. Other isolated sections <br />of curb and gutter exist on other streets. <br /> <br />The topography is steep and roadside ditche, convey runoff through the area in <br />an orderly manner. Small culvert, have been installed In dri~eway, dnd cross <br />streets. Many of the culverts are plugged or the culvert ends are obliterated <br />from traffic. <br /> <br />All streets have gravelled surfaces and roadside ditches, except Grd ndAvenue, <br />~!il i n Street and Ra i1 road Avenue (frontdge road south of U. S. 160). The north! <br />south streets between Railroad Avenue and Grand Avenue are flat and drain <br />poorly as a result. Ponding occurs on Willow Street at Bauer Avenue (First <br />Avenue). on walnut Street at Grand Avenue, and on Mesa Street at Rai]rodd Avenue <br />which, in each ca5e, places private property in jeopardy. <br /> <br />Pending occurs on First Street east of Aztec Street. Also, shallow pending <br />will occur in the open area north of First Street between Walnut Street and <br />Mesa Street. ,ialnut Street south of First Street drains to the west into the <br />irrigation ditch flowing to the southwest. <br /> <br />The continuous s;dewal~ along the north side of Grandview restricts the side <br />streets from draining onto Grand Avenue. <br /> <br />No cul~ert outlet exists from the intersection of First Street ond U.S. 160 <br />By-pass.
