The 100-year frequency flood is the flood event used for flood delineation and

DRAINAGE MASTER PLAN

regulation by the State of Colorado. The Flooded Areas Plates (3 - 7) depict
only tM boundary of the lOO~year floodplain. Since the base maps for the
Floodt'd Areas plates is a 2~foot contour map, the outl ines of the floodplains
of other frequencies (10-, 50-, and 50D-year) can be plotted from the information
in Tables 4 and 5.

[)escri~tion

The floodplain study also included an evaluation of particular drainage problems
in the community. The evaluation included an assessment of the existing drainage
and facilities and recommendation of measures that can be taken by the Town to
improve local drainage.

The objective of the plan was to outline any improvements that will eliminate
the regular ponding areas around town. The improvements are primarily to provide
positive drainage for the frequent summer rainstorms, with secondary concern for
the hydraulic capacity of the system. Also,tn8improvementsareofatypt'that
Town work crews can install the facilities.

Types of improvements considered included roadside ditches, small culverts,
changed street grades and changed drainage patterns. The following paragraphs
discuss the existing drainage facilities and patterns and reeo~ended changes
to that system.

Existinq Drain~ge System
North Mancos

The no rth ~lancos a rea i nc 1 udes th e a rea north of U.
