The Plan <br /> <br />Action Plan Recommendations <br /> <br />Recommendation 1: Flood Control Measures <br /> <br />What: Prepare a flood threat recognition and notification system which uses the State <br />Engineer's Water Talk Network to access current flow data on the Gunnison and Uncompahgre <br />Rivers. Determine at what flow level (cfs) emergency action measures are to be implemented. <br />There is flow gage about Y. mile downstream of the Hwy 50 bridge abutment in the City of Delta. <br />Flows from the flood profiles in Delta's floodplain study. <br /> <br />Gunnison flows: <br /> <br />13,500 cfs (10 year flow) <br />18,700 cfs (50 year flow) <br />21,200 cfs (100 year flow) <br /> <br />Uncompahgre flows: <br /> <br />3,100 cfs (10 year flow) <br />4,400 cfs (50 year flow) <br />5,000 cfs (100 year flow) <br /> <br />Bank full - The following levels are the points at which the rivers typically spill <br />out of their banks at Delta: <br /> <br />Gunnison - 10,800 cfs <br />Uncompahgre - 2,300 cfs <br /> <br />Who: Delta County Emergency Manager and Public Works Director in conjunction with <br />the State Engineer's Water Talk Network. <br /> <br />When: Have notification system in by end of 2002 <br /> <br />Supporting Agencies: Delta Emergency Management, State Engineer's Office, Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board. <br /> <br />Budget: County operating funds for emergency call out system, to be reimbursed, in part, <br />from the FEMA Project Impact Fund, if available. <br />
