included in the survey and presents ian explanation of the
problems encountered.

ADDRESS - Addresses were visible, on most resddential
structures. Addresses for comme:l:'cial and industrial
structures, which were not as readily availetble, were
found on parcel maps obtained from the ci'ty planner. The
parcel maps with addresses were very helpful. The time and
cost of this project would be signifi'cantly increased if
these maps were not available.

CITY - If the structure was with,in th-e ci'ty limits, as
depicted on the current Flood Imlurance Rate, Maps (FIRM),
the community name was used. otherwi:se, 'the, word
"unincorporated" was entered int" the dat.a field. The
process took more time when a communi'ty was split between
several different FIRM panels.

ZIP CODE: - The ZIP Codes were found in th,: t:elephone book for
the Denver metropolitan area and were then t:ransferred to the
FIRM being used.

FLOODING SOURCE - The stream nam'~s were labe, led on the FIRM
panels. When the structure was locatf:d at t:he confluence of
two flood plains, the larger stream Wias cons:idered as the
flooding source.

HAZARD - The surveyors decidE\d whethe:l:' the s,tructure should
be included "IN" or "OUT" of the flood plain. This decision
was based on structure location and judgm.mt.. Approved map
revisions were also provided and used in mak:ing the
determination. A data entry of "IN*" identifies structures
that require survey certification to determine the actual
flood hazard. A data entry of "IN-?" identifies structures
where the surveyors and the local engineer did nol: agree on
the hazard determination. These stru,~tur,~s should also obtain
survey certification. An entry ()f "OUT-L" identified
structures that have obtained a Lette)!:' Of Map Amendment or
Revision (LOMA or LOMR). This field of information should be
used by lenders to decide if flood inl;urance is necessary.

FIRM PANEL NUMBER AND DATE - The community panel number and
date were taken from the fIRM panel uBed for the survey.

FIRM ZONE - This information was plainly marked on the FIRM
panels.

:2
