The equipment must be used in the program for which it <br />was acquired as long as needed. When no longer needed for the FMA <br />program, the equipment may be used in other activities currently or <br />previously supported by a Federal agency. <br /> <br />The local jurisdiction may not use the equipment acquired with grant <br />funds to provide services for a fee to compete unfairly with private <br />companies that provide equivalent services. However, the local <br />jurisdiction may charge appropriate user fees. Such income must be <br />treated as program income (see page 25). <br /> <br />If acquiring replacement equipment, only AFTER SEMA approval may <br />the local jurisdiction use the equipment as a trade-in or sell the property <br />and use the proceeds to offset the cost of the replacement property. <br /> <br />36 <br /> <br />How to Manage a Planning Grant Award <br />
