Additionally, on occasion, the Corps of Engineers
completes the Flood Insurance Studies for FEMA previously
discussed on page 4, Also, the Corps of Engineers is responsible
for regulating development in a wetland. To learn more about
possible wetlands in your area contact the Regulatory Branch of
your local Corps of Engineers, To obtain information about
possible flood studies in your area call the nearest Corps district
office, For the office nearest you, refer to the Point of Contact
Directory Page located in the front of this guidebook,

~
-

,

United States Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS). The NRCS normally conducts two
types of floodplain studies, I) Floodplain Management Study, and
2) Watershed Study authorized under Public Law 566, To obtain
information about possible flood studies conducted in your
jurisdiction contact NRCS at (573) 876-0912.

~
-

,

Repetitive Loss Property Information. Information relative to how
many stmctures are covered by a flood insurance policy or which
structures incur the greatest repetitive loss claim history is available
by jurisdiction. This information can be obtained by completing
the Repetitive Loss Property Request form located in Appendix 3.
Repetitive loss information is subject to Privacy Act rules and thus
a signed Repetitive Loss Request must be submitted prior to the
release of any information. Facsimile requests will not be
processed.

~

:r13:

, Survey of all stmctures within the I OO-year floodplain. City/county
staff may be able to complete the survey, If staff are not available
to conduct a survey, Planning Grant funds are available to assist in
paying for this type of work to be completed. (Refer to page II felr
more information on how to apply for a Planning Grant.) It would
be helpful to divide the results of the survey as follows:

EXAMPLE Flood Frequency Chart

25-year Event

50-year Event IOO-year Event

Critical Facilities

5 facilities

7 facilities

8 facilities

Residential

75 structures

120 structures

260 structures

Commercial

23 structures

36 structures

47 structures

Flood Risk Mitigation Plan
