<br />of cities; incorporated towns; and counties of this state..." <br /> <br />as stated in Section 37-60-106 (1) (C) of the Colorado Revised Statutes 1973. <br />The cities, incorporated towns, and counties within the study area <br />may provide zoning regulations. . . <br />" to establish, regulate, restrict, and limit such uses on or <br />along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin, as such <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin has been designated <br />and approved by the Colorado Water Conservation Board, in order to <br />lessen or avoid the hazards to persons and damage to property re- <br />sulting from the accumulation of storm 01' floodwaters. . ." <br /> <br />as stated in Section 30-28-111 for county governments and Section 31-23-301 <br /> <br /> <br />for muni ci pa 1 governments of the Colorado Rev'j sed Sta tlltes 1973. <br /> <br />Objectives <br />The specific objectives of the flood control and drainage plan pre- <br />sented in this study are listed below: <br />A. To reduce the threat to hUlTlan 1 ife ,. personal i nj ury, or re 1 a ted <br />health hazards due to floods_ <br />B. To reduce or prevent flood damage and maintenance requirements <br />to public and private property and facilities. <br />C. To reduce traffi c hazards and pub 1 i c i nconveni ence fl^om flood <br />water's and enhance emergency veh-j c 1 e movement duri ng floods. <br />D. To preserve the eco 1 ogi ca 1 and envi ronmenta 1 va 1 ues of na tllra 1 <br />floodplain areas and enhante recreational opportunities. <br />E. To improve the qua 1 Hy of water resources by reduci ng sedi ment, <br />salt, and other materials carried by storm and floodwaters. <br />F. To make effective use of public funds and enhance the value of <br />1 and and other property in the community_ <br /> <br />- :. - <br />
