e

e

e

Technical Session II: Water Quality Update

Volume III of the Urban Storm Drainage Criteria Manual

1998 CASFM Conference
10:15 -12:15 a.m.
Thursday, October l, 1998

Are you interested 'in the latest technology on stormwater quality? W ouId you like to
contribute your thoughts on what works, or doesn't work, as "best management practices" to
improve water quality?

Consideration of water quality is a topic of increasing interest to those responsible for
designing, building, operating, and maintaining stormwater drainage systems. In the future, all
new construction and development in urban areas will be required to address water quality.

The Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFeD), in cooperation with local
goverrunents in the Denver metro area, developed "Volume m, Best Management Practices" as
an addition to the Urban Storm Drainage Criteria Manual in September 1992. Currently an
effort is underway to updatll this guidance manual, and this update of Volume III is the subject of
this special session.

Participants will learn about the additional BMPs that are being considered for inclusion in
the manual. Participants wiU also be encouraged to share their insights and comments during
discussion. We hope this will be an interactive and valuable session on stormwater quality.

Outline

Introduction (15 minutes)

John Doerfer, UDFCD

Purpose, Overview, arid Schedule of Technical Session
History and Content of Current Volume ill
Identified Revision Areas and Additions to Manual

Structural BMPs and D~:sign Details
Presentation (30 minutes)
Question and Answer (15 minutes)

Jim WlIllimlln CH2M HILL
,

Industrial and Nonstructural BMPs
Presentation (30 minutes)
Question and Answer (15 minutes)

Pat Nelson, CH2M HILL

Summary and Conclusions (15 minutes)

John Doerfer, UDFCD
