An accurate, up-to-date, detailed
flood map is one of the best tools for proactive planning for, and recovering from, flooding.
Because flood hazards are dynamic and change over time, it is crucial to have an
aggressive program to update and maintain the inventory of maps. This presentation will
specifically discuss: (a) the needs and 5-year plan of flood map updates, flood data and
study updates using the new methodologies and new technologies, (b) cost effectiveness
and time savings of flood map updating process, flood map maintenance and corrections;
and (d) conversion of hard copy maps to digital format.
