13-04, The $435,000 increase of the approved PB-3 over the project
document estimate is due to price level adjustment from January 1963 to
July 1968. The $30,000 increase of the estimate presented in this memorandum
over the approved PB-3 estimate does not represent a material variance. ~o
Federal project features reflect significant changes. A decrease of $175,700
in the relocation feature is due primarily to the selection of a more
economical method of performing the railroad bridge alteration. The $156,000
increase in the feature for levees is due to raising the levee grade,
flattenin~ the embankment slopes and the addition of a toe drain. The
increase of $10,000 in non-Federal costs is primarily due to increasing ~he
amount of railroad grade raise to comply with the railroad company's
criteria.
