C-15

COMMENTARY ON SHEET 6

Reach 3

COST ESTIMATE

Station 65~+00 to Station 7QO+00

Reach 3

Station 651+00 to Station 700+00

Floodplain Regulation is the recommended strategy for the remainder of Reach
3 illustrated at right, with the exception of protective measures recommen-
ded at the Denver Water Department's raw water conduit crossing. The two
large concrete pipelines supply raw water to the Moffat Treatment Plant and
are critically important for the Denver water supply. At present the only
protection provided against the erosive action of high flows is randomly
d LIllped concrete r ubb 1 e. It is recommended that a ri prap drop structure
specifically designed for the site and flow conditions be installed at this
location. Final design of the drop structure should include examination of
the impact of gravel operations on the channel grade downstream and up-
stream. A detailed study should be made to estimate the stable channel
slope to which the channel bed would degrade during the 100-year flood and
the potential impact at the proposed drop structure.

CONSTRUCT ION

Drop Structure/ Cond uit Protecti on
at Station 682+30

Utility Relocation Costs

TOTAL CONSTRUCTION COSTS

ENGINEERING AND CONTINGENCIES (30% of Construction Costs)

FISCAL, LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE (10% of Above Total)

Access to the existing channel is possible from the west along the existing
road which parallel Cl ear Creek. At the downstream end of the study area,
access is via the road paralleling 1-70 which connects to 32nd Avenue. This
road also follows the proposed Jefferson County Clear Creek Trail which is
planned to connect to the existing City of Wheat Ridge Greenbelt Trail
System that terminates presently at Youngfield Street.

PROPERTY ACQUISITION COSTS

TOTAL IMPROVEMENT COSTS
(1982)

MAINTENANCE

Annual Operation/Maintenance Cost

$250,000.00

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

-0-

$250,000.00

$ 75,000.00

$ 32,500.00

-0-

$357,500.00

$ 18,200.00
