,;.J .

.

.

Current Status

By letter dated March 1, 1977, the Board of County Commissioners
of Delta County expressed their desire to participate in a floodplain
study of the Uncompahgre River and Gunnison River.

On March 30,- 1977, the Corps of Engineers Sacramento District
was advised by this Board of several requests for floodplain in for-
mation'studies in Colorado including the Gunnison-Uncompahgre River
study in'Delta County. Research of flood history and the hydrologic
,analysis was initiated ,shortly thereafter and should now be close to
completion.

on May 1, 1977, the CWCB initiated a contract with Aero-Metric
Engineering, Inc., to furnish the maps and other related topographic
data. This work is well underway and the maps have already been
turned over to the Corps of Engineers. As soon as the cross section
elevations, have been digitized, this will also be turned over to the
Corps. This material is expected to be available by March 31, 1978.

Based on a timely receipt of the basic topographic data, the
. Corps of,Engineers estimates completion of the floodplain maps and
profiles by October 1978.

For further information, please contact:

>g!(~,
rJc," ,JA
\'?-t

Mr. William P.
