.

.

.

GUIDELINES

GRANT CRITERIA AND SELECTION
The Colorado Water Conservation Board will be responsible for selecting the final grant
recipients. Although many applications may be received during the request for submittals, only
a small number of awards will be made each year. Evaluation of applications and subsequent
awards will be based on the following criteria:

1. CREATIVITY - Water efficiency projects are encouraged to show innovation or a
potential to enhance existing knowledge regarding the proposed water conservation
measure.

2. RESULTS - Grant proposals should identify a means to evaluate the project
and related water use. Final analysis of projects will in part depend on adequate
evaluation.

3. DISTRIBUTION - One purpose of the grant program is to encourage implementation of
water efficiency projects throughout the state. The location and size of the community
will be considered.

4. APPLICABILITY - The proposed projects should be designed for possible duplication
in other communities.

5. PARTICIPATION - Applicants are encouraged to involve additional agencies or
organizations as participants in the design or implementation of the proposed project if
appropriate.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
As earlier stated, goals of the grant program are to encourage ideas for innovative water
conservation projects and to encourage the implementation of water conservation measures in
communities throughout Colorado. Results from these projects will then help determine what
measures would be most applicable in a given situation.

In order for any project to be successful, two important factors are necessary. The proposed
project must be coordinated under the direction of a qualified project supervisor. The proposed
project will also need to include a means to evaluate water use. The Office of Water
Conservation will then evaluate each project using water use data to determine water savings and
project benefits.

.
