.

.

Master Study of the area would not be appropriate for use in
defining any floodplain for the South Pueblo area. With this in
mind we feel that the South Pueblo area does not have any more
serious flooding problems than many other areas of Pueblo, which
were not studied by the COE and that the COE therefore
overestimated the lOa-year flood hazard. We therefore recommend
that the previously defined laO-year flood hazard be el iminated
from future FIRM FIS maps.

.

I~

Wild Horse Dry Creek

.

Hydrology

.

For this stream the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) used
the publication "Manual for Estimating Flood Characteristics
of Natural Flow Streams in Colorado, Technical Manual Number
I" to develop peak discharges for the selected recurrence
interval floods.

.

.

Review of the CaE work confirms that the COE correctly
applied the procedures outlined in TM-I for this
determination. Comparison of the results of the CaE work
with other studies on Wild Horse Dry Creek show close
agreement.

.

.

-9-

.
