.

.

A more detailed basin study conducted by KLH Engineering
Consultants in March 1979 entitled "Wild Horse Dry Creek
Flood Hazard Study" did not independently calculate existing
flood discharges therefore, a comparison is not
justifiable. The KLH Study did however calculate future
discharges for proposed full basin development. For the
lOa-year flood the future peak discharges were from 23 to
29% more than existing conditions. Since it is not
anticipated that the future conditions hydrology will be
existing until after the year 2000 the KLH Study offers no
findings that conflict with the previous COE work. The CaE
work is therefore considered applicable for use in the FIS.

.

.

.

.

Hydraulics

.

For this determination the most recent HEC-2 runs supplied
by Dames and Moore which best reproduced the results of the
COE work were run on the MSM computer. This computer model
was reviewed and found to be in error at the 11 th and 18 th
Street bridges. The 11 th Street bridge problem concerned
the trapazoidal opening for the special bridge routine and
was easily corrected. The 18th Street bridge geometry used
in the COE model was for the old bridge structure which was
replaced in 1975. Using construction plans supplied by the
City, the new bridge geometry was added to the hydraulic

.

.

.

-10-

.
