Applicant - City of Loveland, Colorado <br /> <br />B. Project Name, Location and Description <br /> <br />1. Replacement of a diversion dam, pipeline, and hydroelectric plant destroyed <br />by the July 31, 1976 flood in the Big Thompson canyon, Colorado. <br /> <br />2. Description of the destroyed facilities: <br /> <br />a. 27' high reinforced concrete slab and buttress diversion dam having a <br />105' long overflow section, one 36" inlet gate, and two 48" sluice gates, <br />located approximately 1.5 miles east of Drake, Colorado. <br /> <br />b, Approximately 1400 L.F. of 36" 0.0, steel pipe and 300 L.F. of pre- <br />stressed concrete pipe located between the dam and the power plant site. <br /> <br />c. Power plant site located 1.6 miles downstream (east) of the dam in <br />Viestanz-Smith Mountain Park, <br /> <br />(1) 20' 6" high by 28' 10" wide by 63' 10" long brick building with <br />three 300 KW (2300 volt) generator/450 HP turbine units including <br />related equipment, and open tailrace, <br /> <br />(2) 22' x 36' 5-room house with porch and frame construction. <br /> <br />(3) 20' x 54' 4-stall garage with hinged doors and frame construction <br />on a concrete pad. <br /> <br />(4) Potable water system consisting of a 6' x 8' well house with frame <br />construction, well with 14' x 48" perforated casing and 1/2 HP <br />electric pressure system, and 600' of 6" steel water line, <br /> <br />(5) 10' x 15' tool shed with frame construction on a concrete pad, <br /> <br />(6) 1500 gallon septic system and leach lines, <br /> <br />(7) One 3-phase, 2300-4160 volt, 750 KVA substation; one 3-phase, <br />4160-22,000 volt, 750 KVA substation; and one I-phase, 2400- <br />240/120 volt, 15 KVA substation. <br />
