<br />DATA RESOURCE <br /> <br />AGENCY <br /> <br />CONTENT <br /> <br />FORMAT <br /> <br />REFERENCE <br /> <br />CONTACT <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE <br /> <br />USACE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS <br /> <br />Department of the Army <br />U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) <br /> <br />Post-flood reports by the Corps of Engineers may include <br />high-water marks, flood losses, nature of damage, losses <br />prevented by flood protection measures, Corps of Engineers' <br />emergency flood-fighting or debris-removal efforts, and <br />other information. The completeness of the reports depends <br />on the size of the flood and how the Corps was involved. <br />Quality of information is variable, especially for flood <br />losses. All reports and files are maintained in district <br />offices. The Washington office only keeps records for <br />major events. Flood-loss estimates are collected from <br />district offices and published in an annual summary, in- <br />cluding estimates of losses prevented. The Federal <br />Disaster Assistance Administration maintains records of <br />USACE activities for major floods. <br /> <br />Printed reports, records, and files are available for review <br />in district offices or for cost of duplication. <br /> <br />AnnuaZ Report of The Chief of Engineers on CiviZ Works <br />Activities, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Washington, <br />DC. Latest volumes are Volume 1, 1975 (summary statistics), <br />and Volume 2, 1976 (detailed summaries by regions). Other <br />volumes to be printed' in 1979.
