<br />DATA RESOURCE <br /> <br />AGENCY <br /> <br />CONTENT <br /> <br />FORMAT <br /> <br />REFERENCE <br /> <br />CONTACT <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE <br /> <br />WESTWIDE AVALANCHE DATA NETWORK <br /> <br />Forest Service <br />Rocky Mountain Forest and Range Experiment Station <br /> <br />The Westwide network consists of about 40 observing stations <br />in the Western United States and Alaska (11 states), Daily <br />avalanche, snowcover, and weather data, primarily for the <br />winter months, are collected and sent each month to the <br />Experiment Station. Twenty-five years of data are now <br />available for a few of the sites and over 10 years for most <br />other stations. The Experiment Station also operates the <br />Colorado Avalanche Warning Service and publishes articles <br />on avalanche accidents. <br /> <br />Data are stored on computer cards and magnetic tape. Data <br />listings or punched cards are available free except for <br />large orders.
