The two dams are

designed with a common spillway which reduces costs dramatically.

Provisions are made for flows from Berry and Prentice dams to cross

the downstream Highline Canal. Two 30" pipes for this purpose under

the canal are included in the proposed improvements.

The existing Blackmer Dam would be raised about 14 feet to provide lOO-
year flood detention on Blackmer Gulch. Modifications to the existing
dam, shown on Drawing 3l, are designed to maintain the present normal
water surface in Blackmer Lake.

Quincy Dam is located near East Quincy Avenue and South Colorado Boule-

vard as shown on Drawing 30. The dam would be built by raising the present

South Colorado Boulevard roadway embankment about 16 feet and providing

a spillway and outlet. The road embankment forms a pond at the present

time and the proposed Quincy Dam would be designed to maintain the exist-

ing normal pond level.

Cost Estimate

The estimated cost of the proposed capital improvements to the Little
Dry Creek Basin drainageways is $7,164,000. This includes the cost of
channelization, conduits and detention dams. It is based on preliminary
designs of the proposed drainageway works and 1973 price levels. A
summary of the cost estimate is given on Table 10, which follows.

-62-
