Englewood Dam, remodelled to meet current safety requirements, and <br /> <br /> <br />the five proposed additional flood detention dams are designed to <br /> <br /> <br />store high-rate flood peaks temporarily and to release then at relatively <br /> <br /> <br />low, controlled rates. Their purpose is to reduce downstream peak flood <br /> <br /> <br />flow rates and thereby reduce the cost of downstream conveyance works. <br /> <br /> <br />No additional permanent water storage is proposed.
