I

I

I

zoidal concrete-lined channel designed to carry 4,700 cubic feet per

second. The channel design was selected to reduce right-of-way acqui-

sition. Two bridges that presently cross the Little Dry Creek channel

may require modification to accomodate the new channel. Other, more

costly, treatment of the channel section may eventually be selected for

aesthetic reasons, particularly in connection with a downtown planning

effort now in progress.

I

I

I

Conduits. The existing Little Dry Creek conduit through Cinderella City

in Englewood and its proposed extension up to Sherman Street are discussed

in detail in the Cinderella Conduit chapter of this report. The conduit

is shown on Drawing 4.

I

I

I

A number of road crossings are required across waterways in the basin. These
crossings have been included in the waterway reaches where improvements
such as channelization, major conduits or other improvements are proposed.
The locations of the crossings are shown on the drawings that show
the proposed improvements.

I

I

The final design of other crossing structures that may be required as
urbanization of the area progresses are not considered to be a part of
this study. However, discharge, elevations, and approximate waterway
areas are given for 25 and 100-year frequency floods at a number of
points in the basin. This data is presented to facilitate the future
design of road crossing structures.

I

I

I

I

A third category of structures are those for which there is a present

need in terms of public convenience and safety, and public services,

such as fire and police protection, but whose costs exceed benefits

which can be calculated from flood damage estimates. These structures

are listed in Table 9, which follows. Some of them are shown on Drawing

36.

I

I

I

I

-59-
