The proposed channel from Clarkson Street, the western boundary

of Cherry Hills Village, up Little Dry Creek to its confluence with Green-

wood Gulch is concrete lined to minimize its width in this high-valued

land area. From the confluence up, a grass-lined channel is used.

Two replacement bridges will be required across this section of the

improved channel.

Under present conditions, some 12 homes in Cherry Hills Village in the

area would be damaged by lOO-year frequency flows. These homes would

be protected by the proposed works.

Channelization is proposed in the City of Englewood both above and below

Cinderella Conduit. In Plan E, selected by the governing entities,

the Cinderella Conduit would be extended up Little Dry Creek to Sherman

Street. The proposed channelization, therefore, extends from the South

Platte River to the lower end of the conduit and from Sherman Street up

to the eastern Englewood city limit at Clarkson Street.

Proposed channelization in the lower reach below Cinderella Conduit is
shown On Drawing 4. The channel is designed to pass the 100-year flood
flow of 4,700 cfs estimated with the five proposed detention dams and
Englewood Dam. An 800-foot long grass-lined channel is proposed just
above the concrete outfall structure under South Platte River Drive.
A 350-foot concrete-lined channel and drop structure extends above the
grass-lined reach and passes under Santa Fe Drive and the Denver and
Rio Grande Western and the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe railroad
bridges. No channel improvements are included between the head of the
concrete-lined section and the lower end of the Cinderella Conduit.
The natural channel in this sort reach can carry the design flood flow
without damage to adjacent property. A stilling basin is proposed at
the downstream end of Cinderella Conduit.

Above the extended Cinderella Conduit, channelization extends from Sherman

Street to Clarkson Street as shown on Drawing 5. The channel is a trapa-

-58-
