Economic Develooment - Ponulation. '- The tQtal pOPu1ati -h of the <br />Huerfano River baSin, exclusive of the Cucha.ra valley, ,is. estimat d from the <br />1930 census to be approximately 5,700. The watershed is sparsely settled and <br />there are no cities within the Huerfano basin proper. The"prinei a1 towns <br />with their ,populations as estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau are Gardner, <br />125, Tioga, 300 and Del Carbon, 300.. A comparison or the 1930 c~ Bus"-with <br />available data of the 1940 census shows a decrease in population f appraxi- <br /> <br />; <br />mately 6.8 pereent' in Huerfano County, and an increase of approxi atel~ 4.2 <br /> <br />per~ent in Pueblo County. <br />11.
