This line t ans- <br /> <br /> <br />ports natural gas from the Texas fields to cities north of the wa ershed <br /> <br />and through conneoting lines serves states adjaoent to Colorado. <br /> <br />12. Economic Develonment - Railroa4s. - The Denver and Rio rande <br /> <br /> <br />Western Railrqad and the Colorado and Southern Railway traverse t e <br /> <br />basin in a north-south direction over a joint roadbed. These rai roads <br /> <br />cross the Huerfano River near Mile 54. A branch line of the Denv rand <br /> <br /> <br />Rio Gran~e Western Railroad leaves the main' line at Walsenburg an. <br /> <br />serves the ooal mines in the vicinity. <br /> <br />13. Economic Development - Highways. - Fede~al Highway No. 5.87 <br /> <br />connects Pueblo, Colorado, and qalsenburg, Colorado, crossing the <br /> <br />Huerfano River at Mile 60. Federal Highway No. 50, connecting Pu blo, <br /> <br />Colorado, and La Junta, Colorado, crosses the Huerfano River near its <br /> <br />mouth. State Highway No. 150 parallels the river from about Mile 95 to <br />Ga~dne~, Golo~ado (llile 82.5). while State Highway No. 69 continu~s along <br />the river from Gardner to Badito~. Colorado. The Watershed is als further <br />served by a number of unimproved highways. <br />14. Economic Development - Bridges. - Federal High~ay No. 85-87 <br />and Federal Highway No. 50 cross the Huerfano River on permanent sl'eel <br />and- concrete structures. There are also several other bridges on recond- <br />a~y highways crossing the river. The Denver and Rio Grande westerr and <br />Colorado and Southern Railroad bridge across the Huerfano River is a <br /> <br />permanent steel structure. No bridges would be affected by propos <br /> <br />improvements.
