None of the entities encourage "panding" or detention of storm water, although they may allow it in certain particular development situations. All of the drainage officials for the entities prefer that the Big Dry Creek channel be allowed to remain in its natural state where possible and that adjacent developments provide open green belt areas or other restrictive uses in the flood plain area. In developed and confined areas along the basin channel, all of the entities are in favor of a drainage master plan that includes channel realignment and improvements, structure improvements, erosion protection, etc., to minimize flood hazards and property damage.
