Sediment Removal The Contractor shall remove and spoil sediment at the upstream toe of the dam as required to reach the original ground surface as directed by the ENGINEER. The sediment shall be spoiled at the location shown on the Drawings. General Embankment Fill The Contractor shall fill the upstream and downstream zones of the dam, the retaining berms, and the outlet channel as shown on the Drawings. All costs associated with placement and compaction of the fill shall be included. This item is limited to embankment type fill and does not include fill around structures. Payment for this item shall be based on a unit price basis per cubic yard of material staked for fill as computed from the average end area method as taken from the field survey cross section measurements taken at approximately 100 foot intervals. 9. Toe Drains The Contractor shall supply all piping, materials, fittings, sand and gravel, excavation, placement and compaction of materials required to install the toe drains. Any sheeting, shoring, or special dewatering to stabilize the excavation shall be included in the cost. Payment shall be made on a lump sum basis with progress payments made based on percentage of total work completed. 10. Outlet Channel Drains The Contractor shall supply all piping, fittings, sand, excavation, placement, and compaction of materials required to install the drains on both sides of the outlet channel. Any sheeting, shoring, or dewatering required to stabilize the excavation shall be included in the cost. CD-9
