<br />The East subtributary to Calhan area main tributary (to Big Sandy Creek). both within the the Town of Calhan and <br />within unincorporated portions of EI Paso County <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />Big Sandy Creek from the Elbert County-EI Paso County line upstream to its confluence with the Ramah area West <br />Unnamed Tributary to Big Sandy Creek <br /> <br />The Ramah area Center Unnamed Tributary to Big Sandy Creek from its confluence with Big Sandy Creek upstreamto its <br />crossing of U.S. Highway 24 <br /> <br />The Ramah area West Unnamed Tributary to Big Sandy Creek from its confluence with Big Sandy Creek upstreamto its <br />crossing of U.S. Highway 24 <br /> <br />;and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the hydrology for all of the approximate stream reaches described in said new report <br />which have drainage areas equal to or larger than the lower limits for the use of the Guidelines for <br />Detennining lOO-Year Flood Flows for Approximate Floodplains, except for those included in <br />Tables 3, 4 and 5, has been estimated in accordance with the Guidelines for Detennining 100-Year <br />Flood Flows for Approximate Floodplains by utilizing the regression equation for Arkansas River <br />Basin Subregion 1 for those stream reaches in Subregion 1 (Eastern Plains Subregion), the regression <br />equation for Arkansas River Basin Subregion 3 for those stream reaches in Subregion 3 ( Central <br />Foothills Subregion), the regression equation for Arkansas River Basin Subregion 4a for those stream <br />reaches in Subregion 4a (Northern Foothills Subregion, West of Monument Creek and Fountain <br />Creek), and the regression equation for Arkansas River Basin Subregion 4b for those stream reaches in <br />Subregion 4b (Northern Foothills Subregion, East of Monument Creek and Fountain Creek; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the use of the U.S. Geological Survey publication, Techniques For Estimating <br />Regional Flood Characteristics of Small Rural Watersheds in the Plains Region of Eastern <br />Colorado, for stream reaches that have drainage areas less than the lower limits for the use of the <br />Guidelines for Detennining 100-Year Flood Flows for Approximate Floodplains but larger than <br />one-half (0.5) square mile in the portions of the Arkansas River Basin generally below 8000 feet in <br />elevation was endorsed by the Guidelines for Detennining 100- Year Flood Flows for Approximate <br />Floodplains; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the lOO-year peak flows for all of the approximate stream reaches descnbed in said <br />new report that have drainage areas less than the lower limits for the use of the Guidelines for <br />Detennining 100-Year Flood Flows for Approximate Floodplains but greater than 0.5 square mile, <br />except for those included in Tables 4 and 5, has been estimated using the appropriate regression <br />equations in accordance with the U.S. Geological Survey publication, Techniques For Estimating <br />Regional Flood Characteristics of Small Rural Watersheds in the Plains Region of Eastern <br />Colorado; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the drainage basins for some of the approximate stream reaches descnbed in said new <br />report less than the lower limit, one-half (0.5) square mile, for the use of the U.S. Geological Survey <br />publication, Techniques For Estimating Regional Flood Characteristics of Small Rural Watersheds <br />in the Plains Region of Eastern Colorado; and <br /> <br />8 <br />
