<br />any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCR TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the approximate floodplain information shown on said map dated January 16, <br />1976 in the Town of P1atteville is not consistent with the requirements for approximate floodplain <br />information listed under the Board's "Rules and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of <br />Floodplains and of Storm or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board recognizes that there is a stormwater <br />drainage ponding area on the east side of the community, but that this area is a result of inadequate <br />conveyance facilities beneath the existing railroad embankment that carry flood runoff from <br />watershed areas that are approximately 1 square mile in size or less; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said map dated January 16, 1976 served as the official floodplain map for the <br />Town ofPlatteville from January 16, 1976 until February 29,1980; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the local drainage areas within the Town of Platteville are due to small <br />tributary flooding sources that can be appropriately dealt with through local regulations or building <br />requirements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the regulatory 100-year floodplain of the South Platte River does not infringe <br />upon Platteville's existing corporate limits, as they were on November 23, 1998; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Platteville entered the regular program of the National Flood <br />Insurance Program on February 29, 1980 and is in full compliance with the requirements of the <br />National Flood Insurance Program as of November 23, 1998; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Town of Platteville will make use of the best available floodpain <br />information for the South Platte River in order to assess the flood risks for any future developments <br />and annexations to the northwest, west, and southwest of the existing corporate limits; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Platteville officials have requested, by letter dated October 7, 1998, that <br />CWCB staff investigate the accuracy of said map and confirm whether or not FEMA's rescission of <br />the map is reasonable; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, following an on-site meeting and field investigation, Platteville officials and <br />CWCB staff support rescission of said map dated January 16, 1976; and <br /> <br />2 <br />
