Establish a mechanism for a periodic (as <br />necessary) national conference/workshop of <br />Federal, State, local, and regional officials <br />for the purpose of fostering coordination of <br />floodplain management activities. (VII-16). <br /> <br />c. Provide evaluation of floodplain management <br />activities with periodic reporting to the <br />public and to the Congress on progress <br />toward implementation of "A Unified National <br />Program for Floodplain Management." (VII-23). <br /> <br />d. Establish mechanisms whereby State and local <br />officials can report periodically on the sta- <br />tus of floodplain management programs and <br />the use of Federal resources in their programs. <br />(VII-II, 13). <br /> <br />e. Provide overall assistance for State program <br />development and liaison with the responsi- <br />ble State floodplain management offices. <br />(VII-7). <br /> <br />f. Provide for coordination of and encourage <br />integrated Federal floodplain, wetland, and <br />coastal barrier island management activities <br />affecting the same geographic areas. (VII-3, <br />23; DA-2, 9, 13, 20). <br /> <br />g. Assist the Federal Emergency Management Agency <br />in carrying out the Office of Management and <br />Budget's directive to provide implementation <br />guidance for Executive Order 11988, FlOOdplain <br />Management. (VI-18; DA-3, 7). <br /> <br />h. Coordinate with and support the efforts of the <br />Federal Interagency Hazard Mitigation Team Task <br />Force to evaluate and improve the effectiveness <br />of Federal pre- and postflood disaster mitigation <br />planning. (VI-20; DA-16). <br /> <br />i. Coordinate with and support the efforts of the Fed- <br />eral Hydrology Committee to standardize the <br />techniques for collection and analysis of hydrologic <br />data, especially through regionalization of <br />streamflow characteristics, so that recorded data <br />may be applied at ungauged sites. (VII-I?, 23). <br /> <br />j. Develop and promote standards for the collection, <br />analysis, and reporting of experienced flood loss <br />data and projected flood loss data.
