Lang, Chief <br />Flood Control and Flood Plan Management Section <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 721 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />Monday, June 15, 1998 <br /> <br />Dear Mr, Lang, <br /> <br />Per our meeting on Monday June 8, 1998, please accept this request for an easement from <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board, to allow construction of a memorial rest stop along <br />the Mary Carter Greenway between South Prince and West Bowles, The rest stop <br />memorializes those who lost their lives in a tragic motor vehicle accident and related AIR <br />LIFE Helicopter crash on December 14, 1997, Enclosed is a brochure featuring an artists <br />rendering of the project. <br /> <br />The exact location for this proposed memorial is on the West side of the Platte River, <br />parallel and East of the tee box and fairway of Hole #6 on Centennial Golf Course, The <br />northern most boundary is located 21 feet South of CWCB Marker "M-35". The easement <br />size would be 140 feet long, North to South and 35 feet wide, East to West. The eastern <br />boundary of the easement would be located 5 feet West of the edge of the current walkway, <br /> <br />HealthONE AIR LIFE is the formal requester for this project, although it began and <br />continues to be a grassroots effort by members of Littleton Fire Department, Littleton Police <br />Department, AIR LIFE and HealthONE. Specifically representing the City of Littleton in this <br />effort are Fire Captain Jeff Christ, Engineer Fred Turner and Police Detective Steve <br />Johnson, We have received support and assistance from the Littleton City Manager, <br />Andrew McMinimee as well as Bill Woodcock, Manager of Planning and Construction, <br />South Suburban Park and Recreation District (SSPRD), Andrew Dufford and Christian <br />Muller of Artscapes LLC were retained for park design, cost estimation and construction, <br />Artscapes has extensive experience with this type of project most notably along the City of <br />Boulder, Colorado Trail System.
