<br />Mr. Moses inquired if these priorities met with the <br />approval of Mr. Lew Williams, Mr. McCandless and Mr. Peterson <br />for the projects in their areas and was told they did. He <br />also asked Mr. J. A. Hughes if he wished to make a statement <br />on the priority list of Mr. Nelson. Mr. Hughes briefly told <br />of the interest in his district in these priorities. <br /> <br />MR. MOSES: <br /> <br />"Would you like to make a motion that <br />the Board's list of priorities be revised <br />to conform with this list, Mr. Nelson?" <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />MR. MOSES: <br /> <br />"The next item is the Cherry Creek <br />Dam operation proposal. Mr. Whitten." <br /> <br />MR. WH1TI'EN: <br /> <br />"In the season of 1957, excessive <br />run-off in the South Platte Basin war- <br />ranted the withholding of water in Cherry <br />Creek Reservoir and this was done to the <br />extent of approximately 4,500 acre feet. <br /> <br />As there was no valid claim upon <br />this water, I requested the Corps of <br />Engineers, who operate the same, to <br />withhold the water until such time as <br />its release might be requested. No <br />such claim has ever been made, since <br />the water in this reservoir, before <br />referred to, was stored at such time <br />or times when there was no legal demand <br />for water by prior appropriators located <br />below the reservoir. <br /> <br />The Corps of Engineers were anxious <br />to release the water, since their princi- <br />pal activity is flood control and the <br />plan of operation was that the reservoir <br />was to have been operated as a dry reser- <br />voir until such time as conservation uses <br />of a portion of the reservoir might be <br />made. <br /> <br />I <br />
