continue in this fiscal year. This information will be transferred to the lnternet and updated annually. Additional
products, like specific basin instream flow fact sheets, will be produced as by-products and made available in hard copy
and on the lnternet.

Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission - Rural Water System/Methane Gas Fields

Authorization: FY 2001 Grant Amount: $30,000
Water Source: N/A Project Type: Water Quality Study
Location: Trinidad Project Manager: Dan McAuliffe

The CWCB is authorized by statute (Section 37-60-115, CRS) to make water resource studies and investigations,
including groundwater studies, watershed planning studies, and river restoration projects. An opportunity exists for the
study of a rural domestic water supply created as a by-product of methane gas extraction near Trinidad. This study could
evolve into other water/energy production related technologies.

Colorado Geological Survev - Statewide Groundwater Atlas
Authorization: FY 200 I Grant Amount: $40,000
Water Source: N/A Project Type: Water Rsrce lnfuntion
Location: Statewide Project Manger: Dan McAuliffe

Work has begun on producing a statewide groundwater atlas. The atlas will begin as a non-technical soft cover book and
evolve into an Internet based atlas covering the entire state. This will complement existing and developing Decision
Support System tools. The "smart" Internet based product is expected to be available in 2002-2003.

Soil Conservation Board -- Ogallala Aquifer Water Management Program
Authorization: FY 2001 Grant Amount: $30,000
Water Source: Ogallala Aquifer Project Type: Water Systm Evaluation
Location: Eastern Colorado Project Manager: Dan McAuliffe

Two state employees provide well testing, irrigation system evaluations, and irrigation water management services to
land owners from Baca County to Sedgwick County. The program results in the substantial conservation of energy and
water. Over 700,000 acres of irrigated land overlays the Ogallala aquifer in Colorado including Baca, Prowers, Kiowa,
Cheyenne, Kit Carson, Yuma, Phillips and Sedgwick Counties in eastern Colorado. This irrigation water management
program provides needed water planning technology to the area's farmers. The Soil Conservation Board is expected to
make a General Fund request to support this program in the future.

Division of Water Resources - Republican River Compact Investigation
Authorization: FY 2001 Grant Amount: $75,000
Water Source: Republican River Project Type: Groundwater Study
Location: Eastern Colorado Project Manager: Dan McAuliffe

This request is designed to help accurately define and quantify the amount of Ogallala aquifer groundwater that is
consumed within the Republican River Basin. This will be accomplished through a comprehensive well survey. We
anticipate the review and analysis of about 2,100 wells. This will be done by reviewing information in the groundwater
database known as Well Look, then by performing on-site inspections to verify information, and finally by collating and
mapping the field information.

Southwestern Water Conservation District - La Plala County Water Studies
Authorization: FY 2001 Grant Amount: $20,000
Water Source: N/A Project Type: Water Mngmnt PInning
Location: La Plata County Project Manager: Mike Serlet

30
