I

with respect to the balance of the Arkan-
sas River, that is, upstream from Las Animas
and downstream, we have studies underway,
survey report studies underway, from John
Martin Dam to the headwaters of the Arkansas
River. As you know, there are many prOblems,
mainly flood problems. To mention a few,
there are problems of flood control, major
drainage, beginning at Florence and extending
downstream to Portland, Pueblo, La Junta and
Las Animas, which I just covered, into John
Martin Dam. We are prosecuting these studies
at this time and we have made considerable
progress in the way of mapping and hydrologic
studies and we will acquaint the Board in the
near future with some of our proposals. Some
of them, I think, are generally known at this
time. There are perhaps some reservoirs in-
volved in our plan that are worthy and there
will be levees and major drainage work involved.

I believe that briefly covers our activi-
ties in the State of Colorado. I will be glad
to endeavor to answer any questions."

"We'll now have a report from the Omaha
District of the Corps of Engineers. Mr.
Slizeski."

"Mr. Chairman, members of the Board, gentle-
men, my name is Joe Slizeski; I'm with the
Planning Division of the Omaha District Corps
of Engineers. The Omaha District's area of
interest in Colorado is restricted to the
South Platte Basin.

In this basin we have three investigations
under way at various stages of advancement.
